Fort Croghan Days

Hurrah for reenacting! Today was a living history day at our local fort—quite small compared to others we’ve been to, but still lots of fun. I have way too much fun dressing up, I guess.

Anna and I, enjoying the chilly weather.

We were in charge of the “butter table.” Fun stuff, that. (Please note sarcasm.)

I must say, we had the cutest helpers ever.
It was a good day. I’m not sure why it is that chores around here are such a pain, but we can spend all day doing old-fashioned chores and find it enjoyable. Odd what familiarity can do to a thing.

Aw, makes me wish I was there!!! I am glad to see y’all had fun though. Their chores were probably more excited. Like all we have to do is spray some cleaner on on floor and wipe, they had to use bricks!
Anyway, glad y’all had fun! Love your dress and your helpers.

Ooh, your dress is so pretty! It would be so awesome to do something like that, I think.
Have a very bright, very cheerful day!

Okay, one question at a time…
#1: Yeah, there were a few soldiers around. Union, of course–this is a post-Civil War fort.
#2: How big? Um…really small. I’m really bad at estimating numbers as far as people go…so I’ll just say…it was small!
#3: The next reenactment there at Fort Croghan won’t be till next year. But there’s one at Fort McKavett in March, so if speech and debate doesn’t conflict, hopefully we can do that one.

Oh I envy you!!! I’d love to dress up like that and run a butter table.
