Hit it, Maestro!

Sunday evening was our spring orchestra concert, and an amazingly fun event.  We performed pieces from Pirates of the Caribbean, The Chronicles of Narnia, and The Patriot—I love movie soundtracks.  And, for our community orchestra, we did pretty well.

My dad taped most of the songs, but due to technical difficulties (okay, due to my impatience to deal with the technical difficulties) I’ve only uploaded the Irish medley Toni, Katy and I performed at the end.  Musicians, please ignore the fact that my violin is woefully out of tune.  You may now proceed:

  • Y’all. Are. Amazing!!! I SO enjoyed that! I think I recognized the solo tune at the beginning…. Anyways, extremely impressive (Facebook it!). The only way you girls could improve is to smile while playing. Even though I know it’s virtually impossible to smile while playing violin. ;-) Be excited! As excited as I am to hear you! I like the one-two-three- part. ;D

I miss you, Bethy! *bottom lip tremble* Have a great time at Nationals! <3

  • That was awesome!!! You guys were wonderful! I loved the song, and the whole thing made me want to push myself at trying to teach myself to play my instruments.

Have a very bright, very cheerful day!

  • Oh how beautiful! I always love listening to you and your sisters play.
I’ve got to start teaching myself the guitar instead of it just sitting there. I really would like to play… it would be helpful if I stopped breaking the strings. *cringes*
Did you have lessons, or did you teach yourself? Any tips?

  • Hi Beth! That was such a beautiful performance! I love fiddle tunes! You girls did a great job! I wish I could have seen it live! I have a question for you. I’m hoping to buy myself a camera soon, but I don’t know what kinds are best. I know y’all are probably on your way to Nats, but do you have any suggestions? No hurry or anything, I’ll probably ask a few other people as well. I just wanted to know your opinion!
    Thanks!
    Emily

Wow. *mouth drops open* You girls are so talented! I loved it! Please post more videos! I love soundtrack, especially the Narnia ones.
Btw, your violin really wasn’t that bad, once all three of you started playing together one wouldn’t notice that easily at all. And oh, how many instruments do you play?

    • Thanks, Felicia! It’s fun playing together. I play about eight instruments, all told…including the ones I can’t play very well. :-P

  • Very nice playing. :)

  • Hi Beth,
I watched the video of the Irish Medley. It was pretty amazing!
I didn’t realize you could play guitar. So I was surprised when you started playing it in the middle of the song. It sounded so good, along with the other instruments.
I’m in the process of learning guitar, myself, right now.
So I really found that video quite interesting & enjoyable.
