So what have I become, a maniacal debate blogger who can’t post about anything aside from the latest tournament?
Hopefully not. However, I find that speech and debate has become an inevitable part of my life (and not an altogether bad one). When life hands you a lemon, just…have some more root beer, right?
(I did not just quote Veggie Tales, y’all. Really.)
Down to business. The tournament was pretty uneventful on my end of things, so don’t ask. I have the distinguished honor of being one of two ARC members not to recieve any sort of award, the second being my twelve-year-old sister.
So let’s talk about the cool people. As a club, ARC came away from this tournament with seven first-place trophies–that’s seven of twelve events. My sister Toni competed in three events and won first in all three (talk about coolness). Then, of course, lots of other cool people pictured above won various awards in various events, and all of them worked hard to do it. I can’t believe how fabulous everyone did!
The road trip there and back was undoubtedly a huge part of the whole event. We took the back seat out of our fifteen-
passenger van, creating an eleven-passenger van with a good amount of storage to get eleven people and a good amount of luggage to New Mexico. The experience shed a new light on the expression “packed like sardines in a can.” Needless to say, we all grew very close during the trip. I learned that leg room is expendable, laughing is a must, and Enya is great for the middle of the afternoon when you feel like falling asleep.
And…that’s about it. Let’s hope this blog won’t suffer during the National Open tournament next week.

Aha! I knew it, I knew it! The root beer thing… um… sure.
I can die happy now.

I just thought you should know that your blog is no longer Livi’s favourite. Now she likes Aradelle’s more. She says that yours is boring without any horses.
You’re fast losing your fan base…

That’s tragic, Gabrielle. Tell Livi that I shall eternally lament the loss of her coveted approval, and my heart yearns to bring her happiness, and–
Never mind. Just tell her I like WordPress.

Oh goodness, this blog is all fancied up! Debate, eh? Kewlness! I once had a debate with Storyteller on the Inklings’ chat thing and someone commented that had we done it in reality, he would have been dead. *wild grin* I like debating…*looks dangerous*
Yes indeed, I have the info for the chat rooms and such, merci merci. I am so excited to become a member of y’all’s wild companionship! 50,000 in the first couple weeks, huh? Either that or keel over dead by the hand of one of my characters who just happened to be angry with me that day… I tell you, Beth, my life at The Party is nearly suicidal! Ah well, but let us ever be opimistic!!!
God bless,
~PIP~ the wild NaNo-er

Hi! My name is Christine Daae, and I am a homeschool blogger, and a fellow speech and debater. Ok, just speech, but I’m considering debate for next year. My sister and I just got back from a tournamnent too. My sister placed in speaker points for TP. Do you debate Team Policy or LD? Well, I came across your blog at alizona’s, and seeing the tournament post, I just had to comment!
In Christ,
Christine

Thanks for getting back to me so soon! It is always fun to meet a fellow speech and/or debater:-) It would be cool to meet at Nationals, although Nationals don’t look like they’re going to be in my future this year:-( But that’s ok. Since this is my first year, I didn’t really expect it. I’m just doing an HI on A Mad Tea Party from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.
Ooh, just a warning; Arya has kind’ve quit blogging for a while. She was getting way too busy so she just decided to prioritize other things for a while.
In Christ,
Christine

Hurry up, DT. No comments, no blog posts, no chatzy… what on earth have you been up to lately? I’ve updated more than you have, probably for the first time in history…
And Livi says there is hope for you. If you make your blog green (her favourite colour) then she shall forgive it’s lack of horses.
