Godtube=Tangle?

Over the past few weeks, Godtube, the somewhat-popular Christian alternative to Youtube, has been revamped, redesigned, and renamed. Like many things these days, Godtube dropped the “God.” Excerpted from their homepage:
Share your story; reach out to others; believe in something–and tell us about it. There’s no pretense here, no judgments, no denominations, no formalities. This is Tangle.
Backing away from the religious label? Sounds like it to me. Tangle still advertises itself as “family-friendly,” and has some pretty nifty features such as the “virtual Bible” and “prayer wall,” but you won’t find anything up-front about Christianity.
As far as popularity goes, the name change was probably a smart move. I like the new look and the new features, myself. So whether taking God out of Godtube was the best thing to do, I’ll still be sticking with Tangle.

Tangle has lost all of it’s allure for me.
Not to be a pessimist, but realistically speaking Tangle will never have the technological edge that Google lends to YouTube.
While at one point I may have been drawn to GodTube, with the removal of “God” from the “Tube” the issue really has become “Tangled”. The secularization of GodTube/Tangle is slightly reminiscent of the social caving-in of eHarmony.
I’ll still use Tangle, but YouTube will probably have more sway.

“The source of our new vision stems directly from the Bible: “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; for apart from me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5) This passage reminds us that even though we are different branches, we share one common purpose: to abide in the Lord and to bear much fruit. With a name like tangle, we can obey Christ’s command to become intertwined with community and faith while constantly branching out into the world.”

I did see that, Josh. I don’t think it’s necessarily a bad change…but then again, it’s not as if they would mention it publicly if the name-change had other motivations. I think it probably did, whether purposefully or accidentally.

*shakes head in dismay* To see a Christian website doing something like this just makes me feel sick. I mean, a new layout is cool, but a name like ‘Tangle’? That just sounds to me like a horrible, worldly mess, if you don’t mind me saying. I think, if you’re going to change the name, change it to something uplifting an inspiring – not something negative-sounding like ‘Tangle’.
Overall, I think this is a big mistake on their part. The reason so many Christians were drawn to the site is because it was blatantly Christian. There are other ‘ordinary’ video sites, but none of them will ever begin to rival Youtube. And they’re ditching their uniqueness to become one of the masses? That just makes me angry.
Forgive the ranting!

Yeah,i saw that,but i thought of it a different way,i thought it might have been youtube,after all they basically were stealing youtube’s name. So it could’ve been they had to change it or they’d get sued or did get sued, lol.

Well, I think it is sad. Maybe you have not heard of it, but I like TheJesusTV.com.

I second the recommendation for TheJesusTV.com and would also add RejoiceTube.com, both are great and uncompromisingly Christian.

I hit this site looking for some christ centered audio sermons. I am a missiouri synod lutheran. I dont know many sites on the computer that are out there for christians to turn to and strengthen us in faith.
